SHABBY TALEBI

Shabby is a first generation American who graduated with a B.A in Emerging Media and Communications from The University of Texas at Dallas. From a young age, she has had a love for music and people. During her time at UT Dallas, Shabby worked for Sony Music U as their DFW Alternative College Marketing Representative working with artists such as Alex & Sierra, Fifth Harmony, Haim, Zayn, and many more. While working for Sony, she was also the head of her university's activities advisory board booking talent for the school.

 

After graduating, she went on to work at a local PR firm for a year where she met Kali. After a year of working multiple side hustles, she realized she wanted to do more in the local creative scene. Striving to bring the community together, her passion has always aimed at creating a platform for creatives, whether through booking talent, grassroots and social media marketing, or public relations.

LET'S BEGIN . . .

KALI AH YUEN

Kali is a Native Hawaiian born and raised on the island of Oahu. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A in Strategic Communications with a minor in Merchandising from The University of North Texas.

 

A passion for all things creative, from dance to writing music to fashion design, has always been at the heart of everything she does. Kali worked for multiple PR and full-service agencies where she grew her expertise alongside companies, such as Carter Blood Care, Frisco Art's Center, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and many more. 

After interning at multiple agencies, she went on to become an Account Executive at a local PR firm. In 2018, she set out to start her own company with her business partner Shabby, People's Revolt - a concept she believed could efficiently mix traditional PR with a modern twist.

DARCY MANTEL

JUNIOR ACCOUNT EXEC.

Darcy is a Dallas, TX native who graduated from the University of Oklahoma with her degree in Public Relations and a minor in Enterprise Studies. She has always wanted to work in the creative industries, whether it be in fashion, beauty, lifestyle, entertainment, etc.

During her time at OU, Darcy was involved in many clubs and extracurriculars, her favorite being her own club that she started - Hip Hop Dance Club. This gave her the opportunity to hold a leadership role and make a name for herself at school.

     

Darcy thrives in a team environment and loves collaborating with other creatives. She began as an intern with People’s Revolt and soon grew to hold the position of Account Executive. Her favorite part about working at People’s Revolt is that it feels like a family.

JOCELYN CASTELLANOS

Creative specialist

Jocelyn is a first-generation college graduate who graduated in 2019 from the University of North Texas with degree in Marketing. 

 

Although she has a business education background, Jocelyn is passionate about all things creative. Whether that be art, stories, ideas; she loves crafting a vision and the challenge of finding ways to bring it to life. With that in mind, she strove to find a way to intertwine her love for creativity and strategy. This lead her to take on a variety of internships in the PR and advertising industry with PAVLOV Advertising, Museum of Memories and People’s Revolt. 

After a few months of collaborating with the team at People’s Revolt, Jocelyn took on the role of Uproar’s editor. Along with the team, she’s determined to find new ways to break down the barriers and give creatives a platform.
